DMHS Updates April 20, 2018

Posted 04/21/2018

Dear Families,

Thank you to all the families who participated in our first Chili Cook-Off event last Wednesday!   It was such a fun event!   All the parents in the DMHS Education Foundation and our High School students did an excellent job organizing this successful event!

We also want to express our sincere gratitude to all the families who donated for Staff Appreciation Week.  We received enough monetary donations to cover our end of year staff party.  We also enjoyed a delicious lunch that our CSC chair, Beth Bianchi, got donated for us.  We love our community!

Very important!-Parent Satisfaction Surveys

If weren’t able to attend the trip meeting or Chili Cook-Off, your oldest student will be bringing home a Parent Satisfaction Survey.  Please fill  out this anonymous survey in pencil and mail it back in the pre-paid envelope.  It is part of our district SPF (School Performance Framework) grade, but most importantly, your voice is very important to us and we truly value your opinions.  We need every family to fill this out and mail it by May 11th.

Farm School 7-9th grade Spring Trips-Looking for Parent Chaperones

Trips are coming up quickly.  If you were unable to make the trip meeting, please send forms and payments with your students on Monday.  Also, we need  to receive all 7th and 8th grade trip medications by Wednesday, April 25 so that we can avoid any last minute issues.

This year, 7th and 8th will be going to either the Sand Dunes, Indian Springs, or Colorado National Monument.   7th and 8th graders will leave Monday, April 30 and return Thursday, May 3.  The cost for 7th and 8th grade trips is $135 and is due by April 20. If you need to set up a payment plan, please email carol_delong@dpsk12.net.

We are looking for at least 3 parent chaperones to accompany the teachers and students on our 7th and 8th grade trips.  Please email carol_delong@dpsk12.net if you are interested and your student is comfortable with you going on trip.  Parent chaperones will need to complete the DPS Volunteer Background check.

9th graders will be leaving for New Mexico on Monday, May 7 – Friday May 11.    Please bring 9th grade medications by Wednesday, May 2.  For more info including costs, please click Farm School Spring Trips 2018!

Professional Development Day on Friday, April 27-No School for students

Please remember that this Friday, April 27th, is a professional development day for staff so there will be no school for students.  This has always been on our schedule and now happens to be the same day that other DPS schools are scheduling early release. Since we were not scheduled to have students on Friday, there is no need to change that schedule.

Many of our students will be competing in the Shakespeare Festival.  We wish them good luck!

Queridas familias,

¡Amamos a nuestra comunidad!
