COMMUNITY UPDATE

Cori’s Note
Hello DMHS Families, This was a very short week and Thursday passed me right by! Thanks for your patience in getting our update a day later than normal. We are now in Quarter 2 and you should be able to view your student’s final Quarter 1 grades no later than Thursday of next week (10/29). As an Advisement guide I have the pleasure of working directly with a group of our Farm School students. Over the last week I’ve been meeting with families to celebrate students’ accomplishments and discuss the challenges they are facing. These conferences have truly been recognitions of perseverance and commitment. We know that the disruption of learning is tough, and yet I am routinely reminded of the opportunities we’ve had to build stronger connections with families and the adaptability and resilience of our children. I don’t say that to undermine the difficulty of this shared experience. This has been tough! Recently, our school’s CSC chair, Barb Wood, shared the theory of ‘uncertainty’ fatigue with me. WOW! Yes – this concept hit home… and down a rabbit hole I went. What I’ve discovered is that humans are wired to look for problems and solve them, and during this very uncertain time many of the problems we are solving are negative and stressful which can result in fatigue. As we head into this weekend, I plan to seek out opportunities for rest, a positive reset and a continued journey of embracing change! I love to cook and bake and can’t wait to settle into the kitchen and take advantage of the turning weather to make some treats. I hope this weekend rewards you with opportunities to prioritize your mental health and well being as well. Take good care! Cor |

Schoology Resources
As we begin a new quarter, I want to share a few more schoology resources with you. After helping my own children for several hours last weekend catch up on their missing assignments, we have set a family goal to stay on top of the new work in hope of reducing the overwhelm at the end of the quarter. Checking schoology more often is helping me stay on top of this goal.
Quarter 2 Supply Pick -Up Some of the teachers will be having a Q2 supply pick up for their classes on Friday, October 30 from 9 am -11 am and from 2 pm – 4pm. If your student needs to pick up supplies, you will be notified via messenger early next week. If those times don’t work for you, please call the office to arrange a different time. If your student has a literature book from their Quarter 1 class, please drop it off at the school either at the supply pick up or at your earliest convenience. |
