Sakeenah Franzen is a lifelong learner, curious about a wide range of topics, and passionate about social justice through education. She has 7 years of experience as a Montessori guide in Lower and Upper Elementary at the Latin American Montessori Bilingual PCS in Washington, DC, and holds an American Montessori Society (AMS) credential in Elementary I and II. She recently completed her Master’s of Arts in Education in the Montessori Education program from St. Catherine University, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. Before beginning Montessori teaching, she worked as a farmer and helped build community gardens in both Iowa and Maryland. She is also a teacher educator at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in Silver Spring, MD, during the summers. Apart from education, Sakeenah enjoys hiking, running, parkour, and time spent outdoors reading or drawing in nature. Sakeenah is excited to be part of DMHS.
