Leah has been with DMHS since its creation in 2013, serving as one of the founding teachers of the school. She holds a certificate from the AMI Orientation to Adolescent Studies, a B.A. in Anthropology and Studio Art from Grinnell College, and a M.A. in Sustainable Business and Communities from Goddard College. Leah’s background is in community organizing, developing grassroots community leaders from diverse communities who work for justice in the areas of workers rights and health care reform. She is also the founder of GreenLeaf, a small nonprofit in Denver that engaged high school youth in urban farming and food justice organizing. Since 2013 Leah has been a guide at DMHS, teaching everything from Earth Science and Leadership classes to AP Biology. She is currently the High School Director and a student advisor.
Leah holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Business and Communities and the AMI Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies Certificate. She is thrilled to be a guide at DMHS, and is excited to follow her calling into the realm of Montessori Adolescent education.
