Leah is dedicated to exploring issues of sustainability, justice, and peace collaboratively with young people, preferably while working outside in the soil. Leah’s background is in community organizing. For six years she worked as a community and union organizer in the Denver metro area, developing grassroots community leaders from diverse communities who work for justice in the areas of workers rights and health care reform.
Leah is also the founder of GreenLeaf (www.GreenLeafDenver.org), whose mission is: cultivating powerful youth and food justice through urban agriculture. For five years, she worked in partnership with the GreenLeaf youth farmers to launch two urban farms, grow thousands of pounds of food for NE Denver residents, and support strong youth leaders.
Leah holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Business and Communities and the AMI Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies Certificate. She is thrilled to be a guide at DMHS, and is excited to follow her calling into the realm of Montessori Adolescent education.
